After AC/DC released their legendary sixth studio album "Back In Black" in 1980, which is still the second best-selling album in the world, Cypress Hill have borrowed this name in 2022.
"Back In Black" is the 10th studio album by the hip-hop pioneers from Los Angeles, consisting of rappers B-Real and Sen Dog, DJ Muggs and percussionist Bobo. It was produced entirely by Detroit producer and rapper Black Milk. Cypress Hill's last album, Elephants On Acid, was released back in 2018.
The classic hip-hop record is a return to their roots, he said. "We used to be proud hip-hoppers and we were part of everything. We are proud to be part of the hip-hop industry. Making a pure hip-hop record was the right way to go," Sen Dog said.
Cypress Hill already gave a few listening impressions of "Back In Black": the songs "Open Ya Mind" and "Champion Sound" in 2021, as well as the new single "Bye Bye" with a guest part by fellow Las Vegas rapper Dizzy Wright in January 2022. The politically charged track is dedicated to social ills and oppression, which are reflected in police sirens alongside the lyrics. B-Real on the song: "In the tradition of Cypress Hill, we always try to make a dark song. This song is a statement. In a roundabout way, we addressed the politics of today. We are being lulled into this dream world by the government. It's trying to blind us to the division it's created to put us to sleep while it does what it wants."
