This debut album was first released in June 2000 and contained 2 hit singles: "If I Ever feel Better" & "Too Young". "Too Young" was also included on Sofia Coppola's soundtrack "Lost in Translation". Truly not a bad start. Phoenix make a kind of very playful French Britpop with an extremely endearing tendency towards the absurd. This is how it must be when you spend your holidays on the Atlantic coast: relaxed, charming and extravagant.

The former live musicians of "Air" and "Daft Punkt" have learned a lot about beautiful, catchy pop music from their former employers. Each song is a universe in itself. And Phoenix serve it all up with an ease as if such a grandiose debut album were the most normal thing in the world!
