Robin Michel is a Basel-based visual artist, musician, composer and sound designer. We met Robin during our art studies where we became familiar with his characteristic practice spanning self-build and music-specific programs and sound-processing (user)interfaces.
Now, almost a decade later, we are very excited to share a series of recordings, bringing together some of Robin’s latest bespoke patch-based arrangements collectively titled nouns in a way into a place.

During his 2025 late-summer stay at an artist residency in Budapest, Robin created Ncapsul8, a custom software built to extract a maximum of musical material from input soundfiles, playing and resynthesising them over and over, feeding the output back into the patch until nothing stays recognizable anymore. Given his approach of designing monstrous individual digital patches and interlinking them with the meticulous configuration of hardware synthesizers, playback- and effect-devices that is his studio, it was clear from the outset that 'nouns in a way into a place' should be presented along the physical qualities of a cassette release. A format that fits neatly into the spectrum of digital and hardware systems Robin’s sound emerges from.
