The band around mastermind George Clinton was not only parallel Parliament, but also had a fluctuation of exceptional musicians in its ranks over time. Bootsy Collins, Eddy Hazel, Bernie Worrel were responsible for the partly psychedelic rocked sound escapades of their early albums developing into P-Funk monsters in the late 70s, which were repeatedly represented in the US R&B charts.
But it's still the band's early albums that receive the greater appreciation, all of which are perennial favourites in the Ace catalogue. After 'Maggot Brain', the eponymous debut 'Funkadelic' (orange vinyl) and 'Free Your Mind... And Your Ass Will Follow' (gatefold / blue vinyl) are finally released in the HIQ series via Westbound as a valuable 180 gr. LP in coloured vinyl.
